On computation of the greatest common divisor of several polynomials over a finite field

We propose a probabilistic algorithm to reduce computing the greatest common divisor of m polynomials over a finite field (which requires computing m−1 pairwise greatest common divisors) to computing the greatest common divisor of two polynomials over the same field.

An Implicit Iteration Process with Errors for a Finite Family of r-strictly Asymptotically Pseudocontractive Mappings

In this paper,we will establish several strong convergence theorems for the approximation ofcommon fixed points of r-strictly asymptotically pseudocontractive mappings in uniformly convex Banachspaces using the modiied implicit iteration sequence with errors,and prove the necessary and sufficient conditionsfor the convergence of the sequence.Our results generalize,extend and improve the recent work,in thistopic.

Capacity Constrained Transit Assignment with Common Lines

This paper proposes the use of absorbing Markov chains to solve the capacity constrained transit network loading problem taking common lines into account. The approach handles congested transit networks, where some passengers will not be able to board because of the absence of sufficient space. The model also handles the common lines problem, where choice of route depends on frequency of arrivals. The mathematical formulation of the problem is presented together with a numerical example. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.

Fe对掺钕磷酸盐激光玻璃激光性能的影响

 在理论分析的基础上，具体讨论了Fe质量分数小于10^-4对1 053 nm处光吸收损耗和Nd³⁺无辐射跃迁几率的影响规律，发现Fe在1 053 nm处的光吸收损耗和Nd³⁺无辐射跃迁能量转移都与Fe质量分数成平方关系增长， Fe对1 053 nm光吸收的影响较大而Fe与Nd³⁺之间的能量转移不足50 Hz。这对生产过程中Fe含量的控制有重要指导意义。     

Design and Cold Tests of Asymmetric Quasioptical Resonators

This paper presents the design and test of asymmetric quasioptical resonators for gyrotron applications, where most of the diffraction output coupling comes from the smaller of two mirrors. A computer code based on scalar diffraction theory is used to calculate the resonator losses and the electric field near the mirrors. Resonators with mirror separations approaching confocal have reduced side lobes in the diffraction patterns, which should allow for better power transmission and focusing. Cold tests have been performed at 94 and 141 GHz to measure the quality factor of the asymmetric resonators as a function of mirror separation and mirror misalignment. Typical resonator parameters include 65 cm mirror separation, 1-3% output coupling and 85% of the losses from the small mirror. A half-symmetric resonator with one flat and one curved mirror has also been investigated. The calculated values of Q are in reasonably good agreement with the cold test measurements.     

Nonlinear Time Series Analysis Since 1990:Some Personal Reflections

Abstract I reflect upon the development of nonlinear time series analysis since 1990 by focusing on five majorareas of development. These areas include the interface between nonlinear time series analysis and chaos,thenonparametric/semiparametric approach,nonlinear state space modelling,financial time series and nonlinearmodelling of panels of time series.     

Degree distribution of the greatest common divisor of polynomials over 𝔽q

We study the degree distribution of the greatest common divisor of two or more random polynomials over a finite field ??_q. We provide estimates for several parameters like number of distinct common irreducible factors, number of irreducible factors counting repetitions, and total degree of the gcd of two or more polynomials. We show that the limiting distribution of a random variable counting the total degree of the gcd is geometric and that the distributions of random variables counting the number of common factors (with and without repetitions) are very close to Poisson distributions when q is large. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
